Technical Delegate course to train next generation of officials for IBA Champions’ Night

August 14th, 2024 / IBA Courses

The next development course for people willing to become IBA Technical Delegates is to offer two diplomas in one. The candidates will be able to study a general preparation as well as brand-new Technical Delegate for the IBA Champions’ Night module, which would allow them to officiate at such events.

This course is to take place from 6 to 8 September in Assisi, Italy. To enroll, Technical Delegates applicants can fill the form, the deadline is on 21 August.

Your experience as an official must be detailed in the application and all potential attendees will be vetted to meet minimum operating requirements.

The Technical Delegate course will consist of two sections: a general focus on the responsibilities of the role; and practical experience officiating at IBA Champions’ Night events.

The IBA has designed the training program, consisting of theoretical and practical parts covering various topics and demonstrating the differences between amateur and professional officiating.

The IBA Champions’ Night series has continued to increase its popularity and frequency in 2024, hosting more than 11 events so far this year, compared to nine in 2023.

Three more events are scheduled for August alone, in Addis Ababa, La Guiara, and Havana. Addis Ababa in Ethiopia is set to host the first IBA Champions’ Night on African soil.
