Strandja Memorial Tournament 2022 will start on February 20

The upcoming 73rd edition of the Strandja Memorial Tournament will be the testing event of the new World Boxing Tour by the International Boxing Association. The upcoming tournament will be the first from the Golden Belt Series. 

The Strandja Memorial is European oldest international boxing tournament and has a high number of boxing stars to attend in the money prize event. IBA will arrange the money prizes and boxers can earn new world ranking points in the forthcoming 73rd Strandja Memorial Tournament.

The first edition of the Strandja Memorial Tournament was held in March 1950 and Bulgarian boxers won all of the eight weight categories. Until the 15th edition, local boxers won the Strandja Memorial Tournament between but more foreigners joined the event since 1964t. Next to the Bulgarians, Romania and Hungary also earned gold medals in 1964.

Women boxers can participate in 12 official categories from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg). Male athletes can compete in 13 weight categories from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg). Altogether 39 nations registered to the upcoming new 73rd Strandja Memorial Tournament.

Asia: India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan

America: Cayman Islands, Chile, Panama, Puerto Rico

Africa: Algeria, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone

A huge interest, with over 450 boxers from 36 countries around the world, has been declared for the 73rd edition of the Strandja Tournament. The oldest international boxing tournament in Europe will be held from February 20 to 27 in Sofia Hall.
