Olympic Games Tripartite Commission confirms its five Invitation Places for the men’s Rio 2016 boxing competition

The Olympic Games Tripartite Commission, comprising the IOC, ANOC and ASOIF are called upon to provide smaller NOCs with the opportunity to compete at Olympic Games, has now awarded its Invitation Places for the 2016 Men’s Olympic Boxing competition.
The places can only be offered to NOCs with an average of eight or fewer athletes at the previous two Olympic Games, and are subject to approval from AIBA and the Commission itself. Following the lengthy appraisal process, athletes from Fiji, Jordan, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Zambia will be among the 250 male boxers competing at Rio 2016.
The Olympic boxing competition will begin on 6 August at the state-of-the-art Riocentro Pavilion 6 in the Barra da Tijuca district of Rio de Janeiro.
