Madrid to host IBA Champions’ Night on 4 May with strong line-up of boxers from Spain and beyond

IBA Champions’ Night moves to Madrid to feature the best boxers from Spain and beyond fighting for glory. Six fights are scheduled for 4 May 2024 at the Madrid arena in the heart of Spain’s capital.
The main event will see local hopeful, 26-years-old Jose Quiles against Javier Ibañez Diaz representing Bulgaria at 57kg. Known as “Crazy Horse”, Quiles is silver medallist of European Championships 2022 and European Games 2023. Ibañez, a Cuban-born, is a silver medallist from the European Championships 2024 and a European Games 2023 winner, where in the finals he beat Quiles to earn the title. In their personal record of fights, each of the boxer has scored a victory and are 1-1, and this pro-style bout will have the IBA Pro European Champion title at stake.
In the 92kg weight category, Spanish boxer Enmanuel Reyes Pla meets with Shohjakhon Abdullaev from Uzbekistan in the co-main event of the night. Bronze medallist of the IBA World Championships 2021 and runner-up in the European Championships 2022, Reyes Pla is a 31-year-old seasoned boxer, who will face young 21-year-old talent Abdullaev. The latter managed to score some victories, including the Asian champion title in Youth and U22 weight categories.
Two-time IBA World Championships silver medallist, Italian Aziz Abbes Mouhiidine will be challenged by Ukë Smajli from Switzerland in the 92kg division. Mouhiidine managed to win two continental titles at European Championships 2022 and European Games 2023. Smajli is 10-time Swiss champion and participant of major continental and world events.
Home favorite and European Games 2019 winner Gabriel Escobar Mascunano, competing in 54kg category, challenges Franck Mombey Stevie from Gabon. Stevie is African Championships 2023 runner-up and African Games 2023 bronze medallist.
EUBC U22 European Championships bronze medallist Sergio Martinez from Spain faces off against Davron Bozorov from Moldova in the 71kg weight division, while Bozorov has competed internationally, including the IBA World Championships 2023. In the opening bout, two IBA World Championships bronze medallists meet, as Martin Molina from Spain fights against Deepak Bhoria from India at 51kg.
