IOC President Mr Thomas Bach confirms presence at AIBA World Championships in Hamburg

The President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr Thomas Bach, will be among the very special guests at Hamburg’s Sporthalle venue for the final day of action at the 2017 AIBA World Championships. Mr Bach will also presentthe gold medal to one of the ten Champions as the 280 best boxers in the world compete for the sport’s most prestigious title from 25 August to 3 September.
“As this year’s World Championships approach, Hamburg is ready to host the biggest edition of our flagship tournament to date, and it is fitting that the President of the IOC, Mr Thomas Bach, will be present to crown one of our new champions on 3 September. As an IOC executive board member, I have been able to serve and promote boxing for nearly thirty years at an Olympic level, defending its interests as one of the world’s most popular sports, and this year’s World Championships will embodyeverything that AIBA has achieved for the sport in recent years,” said AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu.
