IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2025 to take place in Serbia
August 16th, 2024 / IBA, Belgrade 2025
The International Boxing Association (IBA) has officially announced the host country for the 2025 Women’s World Boxing Championships, as Belgrade, Serbia, will host the event in March 2025.
Following the discussions with stakeholders, the decision to postpone the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships to 2025 was justified by busy calendar. IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE underlined that this change aims to give athletes equal chances to succeed.
‘2024 has so far been a busy year for our boxers, and after a number of consultations, we decided to conduct the women’s event in 2025 to give athletes fair opportunities and a fair chance to win lucrative prize money. Our athletes are the center of our operations, and all what we do, we do it for their well-being,’ Chris Roberts OBE stressed.
Men’s edition is scheduled for 2025 with several nations bidding to host the event next May. The decision on the host nation is to be made by the end of the year.
Belgrade has already hosted two IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships back in 1978 and in 2021.
