IBA Professional Boxing Committee composition approved by Board of Directors

June 24th, 2024 / IBA

During the virtual board meeting last Friday, the IBA Board of Directors took a decision to approve members of the newly established Professional Boxing Committee created in 2023 to regulate professional boxing across those key areas of development and event project management. Ten members were selected to form the committee, from an initial 27 candidates who applied for those respective positions.

To comply with the existing good governance methods and practices, the required IBA vetting process will be adhered to before announcing the full composition of the committee members. On successful conclusion, those members will receive personal communication directly from the President.

‘The formation of the IBA Professional Boxing Committee marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of excellence, with advancing our professional boxing theme globally. We are committed to ensuring that our champions and athletes receive the recognition that they deserve, and those opportunities related directly to our National Federations,’ IBA President Umar Kremlev stated.

‘The IBA Professional Boxing Committee will be a key operational asset within our organization, to regulate those matters connected with IBA Champions’ Night events and other related projects. IBA will drive hard to develop those professional boxing themes, alongside our collective and joint effort within our core business of amateur boxing events. A comprehensive ranking system along with those competitive bouts will shape a brand-new landscape in the professional boxing world, so our boxers will have a chance to compete for those well sort after IBA titles. In line with these developments, we have some exciting plans to be announced very shortly that will enthuse our members across the globe,’ IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE said.
