IBA presents its anthem at Champions’ Night in Baku

September 28th, 2024 / IBA, IBA Champions Night

The official anthem of the International Boxing Association (IBA) was played for the very first time tonight at the IBA Champions’ Night in Baku. From now on, all official IBA events will be declared open with the anthem.

It was created to showcase the spirit of the organization. The lyrics of the anthem serve as a constant reminder that life is a fight, both in the ring and for one’s principles and ideals. This constant runs throughout the anthem, reminding athletes not to give up, whether in the ring or in life. It speaks of the fighting spirit not only for new achievements but also for one’s dreams.

Additionally, the anthem reflects the core ideal of sports worldwide, uniting all people. The lyrics remind athletes to take pride in their chosen path; only with this pride can one achieve victory and to write their own story.

The music for the anthem is composed in a dynamic and solemn style, yet it remains easy to remember.

‘It is a big day for the whole boxing family, as we announced the official anthem of the IBA. It is about resilience, fighting spirit and a bright future for our sport. The anthem symbolises our unity and shows that we have no discrimination in our sport, we accept all races, nationalities, religions without any prejudice. It reflects key boxing values as strength, discipline, courage, which are also those key components of the IBA. It’s a symbol of our aspirations, our ambitions and endeavours. I am delighted that from now on, we have our own anthem to be part of all our events,’ IBA President Umar Kremlev said.

IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE added, ’The anthem shows our great qualities as a boxing family and as a leading boxing organization. We are proud of our achievements, and they are reflected in the anthem. This is a thrilling moment for the IBA.’
