It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our IBA Family member, former Executive Committee member Brig Gen (Dr.) Joseph Oladunmoye Ayeni on 13 June 2024.

IBA’s thoughts and prayers are with Ayeni Family, friends, and all who worked and shared love for boxing with him.

IBA President Umar Kremlev expressed his deep sorrow, saying, ‘Dr. Joseph Ayeni was a pillar in the boxing community, whose contributions and dedication to the sport were unparalleled. His loss is deeply felt by everyone at IBA, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.’

IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE also shared his condolences, stating, ‘It is with profound sadness that we bid farewell to a remarkable individual. Dr. Ayeni’s passion for boxing and his commitment to its development have left an indelible mark on our organization. We honor his memory by continuing to advance the sport he loved so dearly.’

The entire IBA community mourns the loss of Dr. Joseph Ayeni and extends heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
