IBA continues to invest in coach training to strengthen the sport of boxing at a foundation level

July 10th, 2024 / IBA Courses

The International Boxing Association (IBA) reaffirms its commitment to the development and growth of boxing coaches worldwide. Recognizing the pivotal role coaches play in shaping athletes’ success, the IBA is making significant investments in coach training starting from the 1-Star level, focusing not only on technical skills but also on the holistic understanding of athletes’ physical, cognitive, and psychological processes.

The IBA believes strongly in the fact the coaches are the cornerstone of boxing and that being a good coach goes beyond teaching boxing techniques; it requires inspiring passion, discipline, charisma, and values through teaching.”

With these priorities in mind, the IBA, through the dedicated efforts of the Coaches Committee and Development Department, has reviewed the 1-Star level programs and is committed to providing continuous growth opportunities, as well as various refresher meetings. These initiatives aim to equip coaches with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles and contribute to the athletes’ overall development.

The IBA is delighted to witness the strong demand for its certification courses from National Federations worldwide. The significant participation of coaches from different continents is a testament to their dedication and responsibility towards the athletes and the future of the sport.

Since the beginning of 2024, the IBA has organized several successful courses, including the IBA 1-Star Coaches Online Course in India, Ecuador, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and Ireland. These courses have provided valuable learning opportunities for coaches, fostering a global network of boxing professionals committed to excellence.

Looking ahead, the IBA is excited to announce upcoming 1-Star Coaches Courses. The Boxing Federation of Iran will host an online course from 1-10 August 2024, followed by the Brazil Boxing Confederation’s online course from 10-20 September 2024. These courses will further expand the reach of IBA’s coach training programs, empowering coaches to enhance their skills and contribute to the growth of boxing in their respective regions. In addition, the 2-Star and 3-Star Coaches courses are currently in the process of being redeveloped with further information on timings to follow.
