June 26th, 2024 / IBA Champions Night

IBA Champions’ Night comes to Kirov on 29 June with home favorite Pavel Sosulin looking to continue his unbeaten streak at the series, as he takes on Uzbekistan’s Kudratillo Abdukakhorov over eight rounds in the 71kg division.

Sosulin (8-0) has run the gauntlet so far, racking up victories in Moscow, Serpukhov, and Ufa over the past six months and is set to headline the latest edition in Russia. One of his most difficult challenges to date comes from Abdukakhorov (20-3), who has great experience on the professional circuit across Asia and the United States.

Serbia’s Pavel Fedorov (3-0) is another experienced IBA Champions’ Night competitor, last defeating Armenia’s Davit Azizyan. He also has victories over Romanian James Chereji and Azerbaijan’s Malik Hasanov. This time he takes on Faisal Abubakari from Ghana in the 63.5kg division, who is to compete for the first time in Russia with a 16-0 professional record so far.

Maxim Kuznetsov (28-12), who hails from the Kirov region, is to compete at 54kg against Nigeria’s Tunde Olojede (15-2), who is also set to compete in Russia for the first time.

Dmitry Zakharov will look to continue his good form from IBA Champions’ Night Ufa in April by winning again in the 71kg weight division but must defeat Wang Lequan (8-1) of China to do so. The 24-year-old Chinese has five KO victories in his professional career so far.

Also competing in the +92kg division will be Russian Georgiy Yunovidov (9-1) and Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Amanzholov (7-1) who will look to bounce back from a loss at IBA Champions’ Night in Ufa. In the 92kg weight division will be Artem Tsaturyan from Russia and Uzbekistan’s Begali Kirgizboev over four rounds.
