IBA Board of Directors discussed the Strategic Overview Q3-Q4 and future plan of the association

July 22nd, 2024 / IBA

During its latest meeting taking place online on Thursday, the IBA Board of Directors discussed the strategic plan for the organization that encompasses a vision for the future of boxing from short, medium and long-term perspectives.

The overview document and strategic plan was developed by an executive group led by IBA President Umar Kremlev and was presented to the Board by Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE.

‘Our Boxing Family shouldn’t be afraid of anything,’ IBA President Umar Kremlev addressed the Board. ‘We see our path clearly and we follow it with tenacity and passion. Everybody can see what we do and what we are capable of. Our major events, World Championships and Champions’ Nights remain a clear vision of our abilities. There is no other organization like IBA, operating at the highest level and creating the conditions for success linked to our National Federations, athletes, and coaches. Misguided information to our National Federations by other organizations is simply sad from their part, whereby we just simply demonstrate the truth. That is our way forward.’

IBA Vice President Abdulmutalim Abakarov added that IBA’s strength is unity, stating, ‘We are strong and are working hard to ensure the best future for our boxers and National Federations. We have faced many attacks on IBA, but we show our power with our actions. If we put the facts on the scale, no other organization can compete by contrast.’

Chris Roberts OBE, in turn, stressed that the strategic document composed by the executive group is designed to define where the IBA are, where we are going, and where the organization will be by the end of the year, and moving in to 2025.

‘The IBA as an outstanding independent organization, that has all the tools that are necessary to ensure the best for boxing all over the world,’ the IBA CEO said. ‘We will give our 100% of attention to the IBA and boxing development and education worldwide. We are strong and we support our National Federations daily. Indeed looking forward to an exciting 2025 with new projects for our people.’

The next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled to take place in Havana, Cuba in August.
