October 30th, 2024 / IBA, Board of Directors
During an online meeting held on 29 October 2024, the IBA Board of Directors reviewed several reports covering financial, legal, sport, and development issues. The Board also approved the agenda for the upcoming IBA Ordinary Congress, scheduled to take place on 7 December 2024 in Dubai.
Among the key decisions, the Board agreed to expand the eligibility criteria for National Federations, mandating their participation in the IBA Champions’ Night. This event has become a central feature on the IBA calendar. Additional legal updates were also provided to the Board as part of the meeting.
The sports update offered a detailed overview of recent accomplishments in major boxing competitions and laid out plans for the final two months of the year and into 2025. Notably, the November-December calendar includes the inaugural IBA Kunlun Fight World Cup event and multiple IBA Champions’ Nights hosted globally.
Development programs are progressing with notable success, as newly certified boxing officials and coaches begin their careers at both local and international levels. The ongoing joint IBA-WBA course has united 30 coaches with a 3-star qualification from across the world, strengthening IBA’s commitment to continuous professional development.
The IBA’s financial stability remains solid. The annual audit, conducted in preparation for the IBA Ordinary Congress, confirmed the organization’s robust financial health.
‘We are moving from strength to strength in our event portfolio, development programs, and other areas of daily work,’ IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE said. ‘I am looking forward to 2025, when more events will launch, and greater successes will follow. With the team we have, anything is achievable.’
