Great start for the Cologne Boxing World Cup

The Cologne Boxing World Cup is the new official name of the well-known tournament Chemistry Cup with more than 20 nations and 160 boxers in seven women and ten men weight classes.
The tournament, formerly known as Chemistry Cup or Chemiepokal, was one of the strongest international events in Europe with nearly 50 years of traditions. The first edition was held in 1970.
This year the number of participating countries increased, and the number of the athletes doubled compare to the previous edition. Key boxing nations such as Cuba, Russia, England, France, India, China, Ireland and host Germany will be present.
The German team contains of AIBA Women’s World Champion Ornella Wahner (57kg), two-time AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Nadine Apetz (69kg), Rio 2016 Olympian Hamza Touba (52kg), AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Nelvie Raman Hess Tiafack (+91kg), and super talented Hamsat Shadalov (60kg).
Finland’s EUBC European Women Champions duo Mira Potkonen and Elina Gustafsson, Thailand’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Peamwilai Laopeam could be the biggest stars of the women competition.
On the men’s side, France’s defending AIBA World Champion Sofiane Oumiha, Ireland’s three-time EUBC European Champion Joseph Ward, Cuba’s Yoandi Toirac, Armenia’s EUBC European Champion Hovhannes Bachkov, England’s EUBC European Champion Peter McGrail and Russia’s veteran boxer Andrey Zamkovoy will be in Cologne eager to ink their story in their World cup.
