Gold-medal matches confirmed for IBA Youth World Boxing Championships

The finalists for the IBA Youth Men’s and Women’s World Boxing Championships have been confirmed, following an action-packed day of semi-finals at the Budva Sports Centre in Montenegro.
While the winners headed to the decisive final contest, the unsuccessful boxers today were guaranteed as bronze medallists.
In the women’s 50kg semi-finals, Carlagh Peake defeated Romanian Ramona Manea and Asian bronze medallist Yelyanur Turganova of Kazakhstan beat European bronze medallist Maria Georgopoulou from Greece. Jasmin Tokhirova of Uzbekistan and Mexico’s Valeria Pizarro will meet in the women’s 48kg final, respectively beating Poland’s Natalia Niewiadomska and Kazakhstan’s Anel Abdrassilova.
European champion Bilalhabsi Nazarov from Azerbaijan is into the men’s 48kg final following a win over Othman Chadghour of Morocco, while Sayfiddin Sabirov from Uzbekistan won against Dias Berikbay from Kazakhstan. Colombian Justin Munevar Moreno and Bexultan Boranbek of Kazakhstan will face off in the men’s 51kg final, beating Zidan Humbatov from Azerbaijan and Iranian Mehdi Kazemi.
Irish European champion Adam Olaniyan made it into the final of the men’s +92kg final by beating Iran’s Amir Esmaeili Vandaei, while Uzbekistan’s Shakhzod Polvonov won by split decision over Aslan Yeldibaiuly of Kazakhstan. IBA Junior World champion Sobirakhon Shakhobiddinova of Uzbekistan defeated Sofia Dushina and is to meet Havvanur Kethuda of Türkiye in the women’s +81kg final who won in the first round against Panar Seiitkhankyzy of Kazakhstan.
Two finalists are to come from DPR Korea after Pak Sin A and Son Su Rim won their semi-finals in the women’s 63kg and 60kg divisions. Their next opponents will be Ireland’s Siofra Lawless and Wu Yuting of China.
An incredible six Chinese boxers will compete in the finals. Joining Wu is Bao Zi Yi who won in the women’s 75kg division against Kazakshtan’s Shugyla Nalibay and next meets Nell McLaughlin after their unanimous win over Dilara Sak from Türkiye. Chen Yanfen won in the women’s 52kg semi-finals too over Bagzhan Otynbay from Kazakhstan, with Russian Snezhana Kuznetsova standing in the way of the gold medal.
Wang Miqi won again by referee’s stoppage, beating Diana Alejandra Maestre Marquez of Venezuela in the second round of the women’s 57kg to next meet Pinar Benek from Turkiye; while Abudureyimu Alimire won the women’s 70kg contest over Oysha Toirova Uzbekistan and next fights Yonca Gul Yilmaz of Turkiye. Finally, Zhang Hanrui defeated IBA Junior World champion Amantur Dzhumaev of Kyrgyzstan to progress to the men’s 54kg final along with Viacheslav Rogozin of Russia.
Elsewhere, Aruzhan Zeinollayeva from Kazakhstan is to meet Uzbekistan’s Rukhshona Parpieva in the women’s 81kg final, Yandiel Lozano from Puerto Rico is into the men’s 60kg final with Platon Kozlov of Russia, Cuban David Espinosa Santoya is in the men’s 67kg final with the Asian champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan of Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan’s Djafarbek Shakhbazov won in the men’s 75kg final by referee’s stoppage, next meeting Sanzhar-Ali Begaliyev of Kazakhstan, the victor in a close decision with IBA Junior World champion Poland’s Fabian Pawel Urbanski.
Kamil Dzhamaev of Russia and Akmaljon Isroilov of Uzbekistan are into the men’s 86kg final, France’s Maloe Teresi and Diana Sikstus from Russia are into the women’s 54kg gold-medal match, Uldana Taubay from Kazakhstan and Kyla Doyle Byrne of Ireland are in the women’s 66kg final and Yojander Fuentes of Cuba edged out Armenian Erik Arstamyan in the men’s 57kg to set up a fight for gold against Samandar Olimov from Uzbekistan.
Finally, Abdulaziz Jurakulov from Uzbekistan and are Azerbaijan’s Ali Abdullaev are in the men’s 63.5kg final, the men’s 71kg final will be contested by Kazakh Oner Seiilkhan and Russian Aleksei Gukov, Yolber Daniel Bandomo from Spain and Ruslan Shikhmambetov of Russia are the men’s 80kg finalists, and Iran’s Amirreza Malekkhatabi and Uzbekistan’s Khalimjon Mamasoliev are into the men’s 92kg final.
