Gadzhimagomedov and Batyrgaziev to headline IBA Champions’ Night in Serpukhov

Two-time World Champion, Olympic silver medallist from Russia Muslim Gadzhimagomedov (3-0) is to fight for the WBA Bridgerweight title at IBA Champions’ Night in Serpukhov on 12 July 2024. His rival, experienced Zhaoxin Zhang from China (12-2-1), will be a great challenge for Gadzhimagomedov, who has already experienced victories at IBA Champions’ Night. The bout is set to last 12 rounds.

In his last professional fight, the Russian defeated Artur Mann from Germany (20-3) and celebrated his third victory. Zhaoxin Zhang has won two of his last three fights, including a KO victory most recently over previously unbeaten Evgeny Romanov from Russia.

In the co-main 12-round event, the WBA Interim Super Featherweight title will be at stake, as Russian Olympic champion and IBA Pro World champion, the undefeated Albert Batyrgaziev (10-0) is to face seasoned pro boxer Jono Carroll from Ireland (24-2-1). Batyrgaziev is ranked seventh in the WBA rankings, while Carroll is in the top-two with his last six fights being victorious.

Undercard fights will feature other exciting bouts, as IBA World Championships bronze medallist Dmitry Dvali will face off against Shakhobidin Zoirov, a World and Olympic champion from Uzbekistan in an eight-round 53.5kg fight.

Five other bouts are to be held in six-round format. Serpukhov-born Artem Ageev (5-0), representing Serbia, is to go into the ring against Artjom Kasparian (10-0) representing the Netherlands in the 80kg division. IBA World Championships bronze medallist, Serbia’s Vladimir Mironchikov (4-0), born in Serpukhov, is to fight against Meysam Gheshlaghi (3-1) from Iran at 80kg. Artur Subkhankulov (6-0) from Russia challenges Abeid Kessy Kasongo (15-0) from Tanzania at 60kg.

IBA World Championships silver medallist, experienced amateur boxer from Russia, Vasilii Egorov, challenges Jesse Espinas (21-7) from the Philippines at 51kg..

The fights are scheduled to take place at a special venue, the IBA Coliseum, purpose built in Serpukhov to host IBA Champions’ Night.
