As part of the IOC’s ongoing push for even greater transparency and good governance, the former UN Secretary General Mr Ban Ki-Moon has been elected as Chair of its Ethics Commission during the 131st IOC Session in Lima, Peru. The fully independent Commission is responsible for defining and updating the IOC framework of ethical principles, including its Code of Ethics, based upon the Olympic Charter.
“The integrity and transparency of sport’s governing bodies is crucial to the continued success of the Olympic movement. These are also the guiding principles behind AIBA. It is therefore hugely important to have someone of Mr Ban’s stature and experience heading up the IOC Ethics Commission and providing the example for all sports federations to follow,” said AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu.
