First female finalists claim gold at ASBC Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships

History was made in Al Ain as the first-ever female champions were named at the ASBC Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships.

In the past, there were no female categories for this event, but today, 15 athletes won gold medals.

The first of them was India’s Deepali Thapa, who won by unanimous decision against Liudmyla Vasylchenko in the 33kg category. In total, seven female boxers from India won gold. Following Thapa’s victory, Bhoomi defeated Aseel Jalimbekova from Kazakhstan in the 35kg final, and Nischal Sharma won against Mariia Matsiura in the 37kg by split decision.

Rakhi defeated Veronika Holub in the 43kg final, Natik won the 52kg final against Arina Orazymbet of Kazakhstan, Trushana Vinayak Mohite was victorious in the 67kg final over Anna Hornostal and Gurseerat Kaur was a split decision victor over Kazakhstan’s Kausar Sangumbay in the 70+kg gold-medal match.

The other Asian nation to win Schoolgirls finals was Kazakhstan whose four title victories started with Nuraiym Kudaibergen in the 49kg final who defeated Kateryna Smolkina.

This was followed by Ailin Khodzhamberdiyeva who won against Vira Vasylenko in the 58kg final, Ayaulym Ospanova defeated India’s Diya in the 61kg final by referee’s stoppage and Diana Nadyrbek won the 70kg final over India’s Manshi Malik.

Three nations won their first Schoolboys titles – Tajikistan, Iran and Kyrgyzstan.

Anushervon Sidigov was Tajikistan’s first gold medallist in the opener final at 33kg, having won against Aslbek Rozumbaev of Uzbekistan by split decision. Akbardzhon Abdulaev also defeated Uzbekistan’s Abduvohid Abdumajidov in the 58kg final.

Iran won two gold medals through Matin Chamipa in the 49kg final over Bohdan Smoliak and Farzan Ahmadi Afzadi against Aliimran Aliyev from Kazakhstan in the 61kg division.

Kyrgyzstan’s Kamil Shar became his nation’s first gold medallist by defeating Yunus Salikhov in the 67kg final.

India won a gold medal again thanks to Uday Singh, a split decision victor against Firuzjon Boymatov from Tajikistan in the 37kg final.

However, it was Kazakhstan that dominated in the men’s events, winning eight finals. The first was in the 35kg final as Abylay Dossymbekov beat Yahyo Komilov from Uzbekistan. Bekkhan Urazbay and Zhumagali Nurmakhan won the 40kg and 43kg finals over Nitin of India and Uzbekistan’s Muhammadali Istamov.

Emir Mukhit won the 46kg final over Bohdan Shakyto, Nurislam Ongalbek was a narrow victor against Kyrgyzstan´s Rizvan Isaev in the 52kg final and the 55kg title was won by Abdimansur Zhaksylyk over India´s Lakshay Balhara.

Torekhan Kanatbay won by split decision over Dalintin Lukianenko in the 64kg final and Mansur Amantay had his arm raised after a tight 70kg final against Uzbekistan´s Ayubkhon Muhammadaliev.

The action continues with the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships finals.
