ASBC Youth and U22 Asian Boxing Championships kicked off in Astana

The Opening ceremony of the ASBC Youth and U22 Asian Boxing Championships took place in Astana, Kazakhstan. The event finals will take place on 6-7 May for both age groups are scheduled.
IBA President Umar Kremlev took part in the opening ceremony along with IBA Vice-President Abdulmutalim Abakarov, ASBC Executive Director Ali Salameh, and Kazakhstan Boxing Federation President Shakhmurat Mutalip and Deputy Minster of Tourism and Sport of Kazakhstan Serik Zharasbayev.
A total number of 397 boxers from 25 nations came to Kazakhstan to fight for the titles with Timor Leste debut at the event, with Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam also represented at the competitions.
50 gold medals are at stake in both age groups and 12 women’s and 13 men’s weight categories.
