ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships get underway

Future stars are competing in Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates, with sporting action at the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships beginning on Thursday, 29 August.

A total of 462 boxers from 26 nations are participating in the competition.

Yesterday’s action saw 26 bouts take place with particular excitement in the boys’ 70kg category.

Two matches ended by referee’s stoppage as Diyorbek Murodilloev from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan’s Sapargeldi Nuryagdyyev progressed at the expense of Tamir Davaajav of Mongolia and the UAE’s Nahyan Al-Ghafri.

India’s Prashant won a tight split decision, whilst Iran’s Mohammad Saleh Mesbahi Ro was the unanimous victor against Jordan’s Zaid Besah.

It was another great day for Iran and Uzbekistan who had four victories today.

Mohammad Safarbeiranvand defeated Palestine’s Adam Shehabi in the boys’ 60kg division, Amirmohammad Rostampour was victorious by referee’s stoppage in the boys’ 66kg tournament against Jin-Heng Liu from Chinese Taipei, and Ashkan Hashemi won in the boys’ 63kg division for Iran.

Uzbekistan’s other wins came for Suhrob Rakhmatullaev in the boys’ 63kg division over Jasrit Mor from India, Jasurbek Usmonjonov against Abdulla Naji from the UAE and Jakhongir Zaynidinov over Baatar Enkhjargal from Mongolia in the 57kg division.

Competition at the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships will end on 9 September.
