American boxing legend and Olympic Champion Muhammad Ali died on Friday night in a hospital in Phoenix

Born as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., Muhammad Ali passed away at the age of 74. “In my capacity as President of the International Boxing Association, AIBA, and on behalf of the entire boxing family, I would like to express my most heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy for the passing of Mr Muhammed Ali. He will always be remembered for his unique achievements in the ring, but also for the battles he overcame outside the ring as he fought endlessly for his beliefs and values. He has changed our sport in so many ways, becoming an icon for the generations who have engaged in boxing because of his remarkable achievements and skill, but also his charisma and personality. He has transcended boxing to be forever called “The Greatest”. My sincere condolences and prayers go to his family at this most incredibly sad of times.” declared Dr Ching-Kuo WU AIBA President.
