Thursday, 26th April 2018 – Lausanne, Switzerland: Yesterday the International Boxing Association (AIBA) submitted an Update Report to the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) following their request from February 2018.
The report provides information regarding AIBA’s current and future actions in the fields of governance, management, finance, and sporting integrity. Furthermore, the report contains detailed information regarding two of AIBA’s newly developed programmes: the AIBA Diversity in Boxing programme and the AIBA Gender Equality Forum.
Tom Virgets, AIBA Executive Director said: “AIBA is committed to implementing change in many areas and has already made great progress in the last couple of months. As we continue our road towards a more prosperous AIBA, we are dedicated to transparency on all levels. We look forward to being able to share this report and more exciting announcements with all AIBA Members as soon as possible. This report is just the first of many steps for the new AIBA.”
The update report submitted to the IOC is part of a complete organizational review which is currently being completed by AIBA. This review includes input from all of AIBA’s stakeholders and will lead to the ‘New Foundation Plan’ for AIBA. This plan and the recommendations produced will be discussed during the AIBA Executive Committee meeting in July.
