The AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu has been re-appointed as Chair of the IOC Cultural Commission by IOC President Thomas Bach, a position he first assumed in April last year. Dr Wu also continues in his role on the Coordination Commission of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games for Beijing 2022.
“For almost 30 years it has been my absolute privilege to serve the IOC and occupy a variety of roles that have allowed me to pursue my passion for the Olympic movement. I look forward to working with my fellow members as we continue to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the IOC and help to lay the groundwork for another successful Winter Games,” said Dr Ching-Kuo Wu.
Dr Wu first became a member of the IOC in 1988. More recently, an unswerving belief in the power of Olympism has seen the AIBA President open several Olympic museums around the world, with the former IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch having entrusted Dr Wu with thousands of his own items and artefacts of significant importance to Olympic history after he passed away in 2010.
