AIBA President meets with government officials during visit to Ivory Coast

Following a highly successful Extraordinary General Assembly of the African Boxing Confederation, AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu met with the Ivory Coast Minister of Sports and Leisure, Mr François Albert Amichia, in the presence of African Boxing Confederation President Mr Kelani Bayor and Ivory Coast Boxing Federation President General Soumahoro Gaoussou.
Dr Wu congratulated Ivory Coast for the excellent organisation of the Extraordinary General Assembly in Grand Bassam, bringing the entire continent together to set new foundations for the development of boxing in Africa. The Minister of Sports expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to host the Assembly and confirmed his efforts in helping to ensure Ivory Coast will play a major role in the future of boxing.
The entire AIBA and AFBC boxing delegation then met with the Ivory Coast’s Army Chief General Soumaïla Bakayoko, who outlined the positive values of boxing and several social projects undertaken by the Ivory Coast Boxing Federation and their impact on the local young people. Boxing has a longstanding tradition in the country and the Chief General said that he expects to see National boxers performing well in forthcoming competitions.
