Mr. Paul Forschbach, the former President of the German Boxing Federation and Honorary President of the German Boxing Federation, passed away two days after his 85th birthday in his house in Augsburg on April 6th.

“In my capacity of President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and on behalf of the entire boxing family, I would like to express my sadness following the death of Mr. Paul Forschbach,” said AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu.

“Paul was an exceptionally bright man whose passion and love for this remarkable sport was clear for all to see,” confirmed Dr Wu.

Mr. Forschbach had been part of the staff and management of the German Boxing Federation since 1979, and he was appointed as their President at the age of 71 during the 42nd Congress of the Federation in Landshut in 2001.

He produced consistent creative work for Germany’s boxers, and was also the Team Manager of the German boxing delegations across multiple Olympic Games.

Forschbach authored the Boxing Almanac 1920-1980 book, which contains all of the medalists from the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Continental Championships, German National Championships, dual matches between national teams and articles about the Boxers of the Years, as well as penning other German amateur boxing books, with his last one published one year ago.

Appointed Honorary President of the German Boxing Federation in 2011, Mr. Forschbach also received Germany’s Federal Cross of Merit and the 1st Class of the Order of Merit.
