AIBA President delighted by Agenda 2020 approval

The AIBA President, Dr Ching-Kuo Wu has expressed his delight that the IOC’s Agenda 2020 recommendations were unanimously approved at the Extraordinary International Olympic Committee Session in Monte Carlo this week.
Dr Wu said: “This is a great day for the Olympic Movement. I am very proud to have been part of the team who assisted in the development of this agenda and would like to convey once again my strong commitment, as well as that of the International Boxing Association, to turning all of the Agenda 2020 recommendations into reality in the future.”
Dr Wu also praised the IOC President Thomas Bach’s vision and leadership in driving changes in the organisation since his election.
“I have been deeply impressed by President Bach’s leadership, with such great insight and belief, to produce all of these recommendations that will lead the world of International Sports and the Olympic Movement to evolve successfully in the years to come.
“With more than 26 years of my life as a member of the lOC, I have been identifying the need to adopt changes due to the fast social, lifestyle and political changes, as well as more importantly the new trends of our Olympic Sports.
“I am therefore extremely happy to fully support President Bach’s vision and leadership on the proposed future remarkable achievements and I join him in looking forward to the bright future and new birth of our organization.”
Dr Wu said that the Agenda 2020 proposals offered enormous opportunities for boxing, in particular for the continued development of Women’s Boxing.
“The Agenda 2020 reforms will greatly strengthen our sport, from its grassroots all the way up to the very pinnacle of boxing achievements. The reforms offer enormous new opportunities for young boxers, in particular Women Boxers,” he concluded.
