At the invitation of the Chinese Olympic Committee President Mr Gou Zhongwen, AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu attended the Opening Ceremony of the China National Games on 27 August in the city of Tianjin, along with the IOC President Mr Thomas Bach and President of the Global Association of International Federations (GAISF) Mr Patrick Baumann. Two days earlier, the IOC President had sent his words of welcome and encouragement to the boxers of the 2017 AIBA World Championships taking place in the German city of Hamburg, which were shared with the athletes during the Opening Ceremony after Dr Wu had officially inaugurated the tournament. The AIBA President returns to Germany on Monday, where the World Championships continue until 2 September.
