AIBA pays tribute to Order of Merit holder, the late Herbert Embuldeniya

Today, the AIBA Family pays tribute to its former Executive Committee member Herbert Embuldeniya after he passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning. One of the first recipients of the AIBA Order of Merit, Mr Embuldeniya will be forever remembered for his lifelong commitment to boxing and his dedication and loyalty to the sport.
Born in Sri Lanka and a resident of Canada, Mr Embuldeniya officiated at four Olympic and five Commonwealth Games among countless other international events, and served on several AIBA Commissions before being elected to the Executive Committee in 1990. Re-elected in 1994, he continued to help to develop boxing in the country of his birth, and will be fondly remembered by all whom he worked with during a remarkable career in the sport that he loved.
