AIBA focus on education continues with February’s R&J and coaching events in Bulgaria and India

February 26th, 2017 / IBA

AIBA continued to embrace education at the start of the new Olympic cycle as the expansion of official certification opportunities continued with a three-day R&J course in Sofia, Bulgaria followed by a Coaches and R&J course at India’s National Boxing Academy in Haryana.

The event in the Bulgarian capital was held as part of the city’s prestigious Strandja Memorial Tournament, with 20 officials from 12 countries taking the examination for 3-star qualification. In India, 40 National and 1-Star R&Js were given the opportunity to recertify following the return of the NF to the AIBA family, and all National-level officials were invited to train in advance of a 1-Star course taking place later in 2017. India’s 50 National Coaches also took the opportunity to elevate their level in a course at the National Academy.

The development and training of AIBA’s global network of officials is a priority of the Tokyo 2020 cycle, not just for the R&J community but coaches, technical and National Federation staff as a whole. In March, the Chemistry Cup in Germany will be the location for the next 2-Star R&J course.
