AIBA Extraordinary Congress to be held on March 20, 2020

AIBA Executive Committee (EC) voted to postpone Extraordinary Congress which was scheduled on December 14. The new date is March 20. EC postponed the Congress to review amendment proposals from National Federations. The purpose of the Congress is to approve new AIBA Statutes.
AIBA Interim President Dr. Mohamed Moustahsane thanked the National federations for their input.
“I would like to thank you for the various proposals that some of you submitted for the AIBA Statutes amendment, your participation and your valuable input is very important in this reform process of our organisation”, stated Moustahsane.
“Dr François Carrard has accepted to support AIBA in the Statutes review. He will lead an experts’ group from his law firm to review AIBA members federations’ proposals and recommend amendments according to good governance standards and international best practices”.
“Based on the joint discussion with Dr François Carrard and the IOC representatives, we concluded that more time is needed to reform AIBA Statutes. Therefore, the AIBA EC decided to postpone the AIBA Congress to March 20th, 2020″.
“With regards to the revision process and timeline, AIBA will present the proposed amendments to AIBA EC and IOC for their endorsement before circulating it to each National Federation at least 1-month prior to the Congress”, added he.
AIBA Executive Committee will meet on November 21st, 2019, in Lausanne to discuss this important issues in detail.
