The Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournament is among Europe’s traditional boxing competitions where both genders can show their boxing knowledge.

The Polish Boxing Association decided to raise the level of the competition, and invited the top nations to Warsaw this time, with Kazakhstan, England, Russia, Ireland, Georgia, United States of America, Bulgaria and Ukraine all competing in this prestigious tournament.

England’s Nicola Adams claimed the historic first gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics, and returned to the world of boxing at the EU Women’s Championships last July where she defeated all of her rivals once again.

The English star advanced to the final of the Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournamen, where she met with the newly crowned National Champion Sayana Sagatayeva, who lives in the Asian region of the Russian Federation.

Their bout was one of the narrowest among the gold medal bouts. resulting in the hand of Adams being raised due her excellent last round.

The 24-year-old new Russian Flyweight class (51 kg) hope is a talent however, and is one to watch in upcoming international competitions.

Team of the tournament
The host nation’s squad captured four gold medals in the Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournament in Warsaw, which meant they were the most successful country at the event.

Poland’s AIBA World Champion Karolina Michalczuk moved up to the Lightweight class (60 kg) this year, and the veteran delivered the gold medal on home soil after beating England’s strong Chantelle Cameron in the final.

Their former EUBC European Women’s Youth Champion Lidia Fidura achieved the second female gold for the host country following her final victory over Canada’s two-time AIBA World Champion star Ariane Fortin in the Middleweight class (75 kg).

In the male part of the tournament, Grzegorz Kozlowski experienced a surprise triumph over Spain’s London 2012 Olympian Jose Kelvin de la Nieve, while Poland’s last gold medal was acquired by Igor Jakubowski, who beat Russia’s Sportaccord World Combat Games winner Pavel Nikitayev in the final of the Heavyweight class (91 kg).

Surprise of the tournament
Ukraine’s newcomer in the national elite squad the Danas Pozniakas Youth Tournament winner Oleksiy Kazim-Zade caused the biggest surprise in the entire tournament.

The 20-year-old Ukrainian Middleweight class (75 kg) boxer triumphed over Hungary’s London 2012 Olympics quarter-finalist and EUBC European Continental Championships bronze medallist Zoltan Harcsa, who eliminated Kazakhstan’s Rustam Svayev in the semi-final stage of the Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournament.

One to watch in the future
Lenroy “Cam Awesome” Thompson is one of the best US elite fighters, and has competed in various international events since 2008, taking part in the last two editions of the AIBA World Boxing Championships.

The Texas-based Super Heavyweight class (+91 kg) boxer was a silver medallist in the AMBC American Continental Championships in Santiago de Chile last year, and proved his class in the Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournament.

The 190cm tall US boxer defeated his Russian, Ukrainian, and Georgian rivals on the road to the final, where he was too strong for Ireland’s National Champion Dean Gardiner.

Fact/stat of the tournament
Belgium have returned to the boxing map over the past year, and with their new Flyweight class (52 kg) hope Dodji Ayigah bagging a bronze medal in Warsaw.

The host of the upcoming 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships, Qatar also competed in the Feliks Stamm Tournament and their Light Flyweight class (49 kg) Yahya Saleh Ahmad Al-Rafiq boxer claimed a silver medal following his close loss to Kazakhstan’s Erzhan Zhomart.
