Ahead of Friday’s European Olympic Qualification Event semi-finals in Samsun, Turkey, AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu completed the signing of the HeadsUp charter with Turkish Boxing Federation President Mr Eyup Gözgeç in presence of EUBC President, Franco Facinelli.

The charter is the realisation of AIBA’s innovative HeadsUp campaign, dedicated to the physical and professional wellbeing of its boxers, helping develop and sustain careers from grassroots academies to elite-level competition and into retirement.

Dr Wu praised the excellent organisation of the tournament that saw eighteen countries represented at the semi-final stages, underlining the strength of European boxing in 2016. The competition is the last of four continental events that will see 36 boxers confirm their places at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by the conclusion of Sunday’s finals and third-place box-offs.
