The second day of AIBA World Championship semi-finals begins on Monday evening, with three reigning champions setting out to defend their titles and thirteen nations represented across the five weight categories. Starting at 5pm (CET), ten bouts will decide the finalists in the flyweight, lightweight, welterweight, light heavyweight and super heavyweight classes.

First up for the flyweights is China’s surprise package of the tournament Jianguan Hu. Having despatched Olzhas Sattibayev in the quarter-finals, Hu will hope he has enough left in reserve to defeat Cuba’s American Confederation silver medalist Yosbany Veitia.

Brazil’s brilliant Robson Conceicao has had a near-flawless campaign so far in Doha, but his biggest test to date will come tonight in the form of Azerbaijan’s former world champion Albert Selimov. In the other half of the lightweight draw, the defending champion Lazaro Alvarez will hope to progress against Uzbekistan’s Elnur Abduraimov.

A mouthwatering welterweight match-up pits defending champion Daniyar Yeleussinov against Azeri Parviz Baghirov for a place in the final against the winner of China’s Liu Wei and Morrocco’s WSB revelation Mohammed Rabii, two bouts that will get the crowd buzzing ahead of the arrival of Cuban maestro Julio La Cruz.

La Cruz is brimming with confidence in Doha, and Russia’s Pavel Silyagin – unbeaten in 2015 – stands between him and a place in the final against the winner of Ireland’s Joe Ward and Uzbek Elshod Rasulov.

Closing out the semi-final action will be the super heavyweights, with the imposing figure of Ivan Dychko looking to continue his impressive run against Bakhodir Jalolov to go on to meet the winner of an unpredictable match-up between Britain’s Joe Joyce and France’s reinvigorated Tony Yoka.
