Sanson Rosa: IBA Pro title would be a major step in my career, I came to bring victory to Argentina

November 3rd, 2024 / IBA Champions Night

Argentinian boxer Sanson Rosa is well-prepared for the IBA Champions’ Night in Samara, which will feature IBA Pro World Welterweight title fight between him and Khariton Agrba from Russia on 4 November 2024.

‘I feel great,’ undefeated Rosa, who holds 27 victories and 20 KOs, said. ‘My opponent is a great boxer with his own strengths, but he will not beat me. In the ring, we will see who the best will be. What I am preparing for Agrba, is precisely a surprise. I’m definitely not here on vacation in Russia, I came to win. My only expectation is victory, and I hope people enjoy a great fight.’

Rosa’s father, Jose Joaquin Rosa Gomez, used to be a boxer who competed for the Dominican Republic.

‘Boxing is in my blood, because my father was a great boxer, and I grew up with him in the gym. I started from the cradle, and my goal is to become a World champion. My father called me Sanson, it is a very important name, and I think I’ve shown that in all my fights. Out of 27 opponents, only 7 have made it to the scorecards. It was my father who taught me discipline and faith in God. I have seven siblings, but I’m the only one in boxing,’ he claimed.

He recalls the hardest moment of his career, which was the fight against Leandro Fonseca when Rosa defended his Argentine title – before the matchup, they both were undefeated. The most memorable fight for him was one in his hometown.

‘It was the fight in La Rioja against the Brazilian Paulo Galdino, at the stadium with 20,000 people chanting my name. Incredible feeling,’ Rosa added. ‘Thinking of my kids, my family, and my faith in God helps me get through tough times in life. Now I am concentrating on bringing the victory back to Argentina. I didn’t come all this way for nothing! IBA Pro World Champion title would be a major step in my career and definitely a chance to become an elite boxer.’
