Unprecedented Process
In 2021, IBA began an unprecedented period of governance reform, appointing Prof. Ulrich Haas to lead a Governance Reform Group. The Group prepared a comprehensive set of recommendations and measures. Its report was adopted in full at the IBA Extraordinary Congress of December 2021, together with the measures required to enable the current election process.
All candidates will be subject to independent background checks and to consideration by the interim Independent Nominations Unit, prior to being declared eligible to stand as candidates for election. For candidates for the position of Independent Director, this consideration will include an analysis of the skills needed to ensure the IBA Board of Directors is best qualified to lead the sport. A detailed skills map will be used.
Timeline
- 02.03.2022: Final deadline to receive applications from candidates
- 22.04.2022. Deadline for the publication of the list of candidates
- 13-14.05.2022: Electoral Congress during the IBA Women’s World Championships in Istanbul
Please note
Candidates need to be nominated by either their National Federation or their Confederation. To that effect, a nomination form needs to be completed and signed and uploaded with the online application form. You can find both forms here:
Candidates wishing to stand for both the position of President and the position of Independent Director must complete both application forms.
Candidates will be able to save their progress and revisit each form as they complete it. Applicants with questions about the forms or the process may contact congress@iba.sport.
Candidates should only consider their applications to have been received upon receipt of an email from IBA headquarters, within 48 hours of submission, indicating their applications are being processed.
Candidates are reminded that they will also be subject to the IBA Regulations on Elections.
Candidates unable to complete the online forms may request PDF copies of the forms, that can be completed offline, by contacting congress@iba.sport.
