The Nations Women’s Cup continued with thirty-six contests in the city of Subotica, where China’s AIBA Women’s World Champion Yuan Meiqing demonstrated her power in her new weight class and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Bout of the day
Yuan Meiqing claimed the gold medal in 2011 at the first edition of the AIBA Women’s Youth World Championships in Antalya, Turkey, and the Chinese star also achieved the gold medal at the 7th AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Qinhuangdao.

Following that success she has had some injuries, but returned to full training activity last year and decided to move down to the Olympic Middleweight class (75 kg).

Yuan met with Kazakhstan’s former ASBC Asian Women’s Continental Champion Dariga Shakimova in the second competition day of the Nations Women’s Cup, and following her great start she won the bout of the second session.

Team of the day
England’s youth team is one of the best in the world, and Ebonie Jones and Chantelle Reid both claimed gold medals at the European Union Women’s Junior Championships in 2013, the EUBC European Women’s Junior Continental Championships in 2014.

Jones stopped Kazakhstan’s Aidana Baltabayeva in the Flyweight class (51kg), while 17-year-old Reid was too strong for Hungary’s Junior National Champion Fanni Szokol at the Middleweight class (75 kg).

Their teammate Bria Fielding was also successful against Kazakhstan’s Jansaya Karimova in Subotica on Day 2, and the fourth English victory was delivered by Shelly Sweeny in the junior part of the strong competition.

Surprise of the day
Greece’s Plea Foteini competed in the AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships in Albena in 2013 and proved her fighting spirit in that competition.

The 17-year-old Greek youth boxer attacked from the first seconds against India’s Youth National Champion Asha Roka in Subotica and delivered the biggest surprise of the day.

One to watch
Serbia’s elite women’s boxers have now got experience at the international level, and their young hope, EUBC European Junior Continental Championships bronze medallist Tamara Miloradovic has competed in a high number of bouts as well in spite of her young age.

The 19-year-old Featherweight class (57 kg) boxer needed to be at her very best to control the bout against Kazakhstan’s Aizhan Khodzhabekova, but in the front of her home crowd she was able to achieve an amazing performance.

Tomorrow’s program
Thirty-two youth and elite contests are on the schedule of the third competition day in Subotica, where Kazakhstan’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships Yulduz Mamatkulov will be in action.

Kazakhstan is competing in the Nations Women’s Cup with a huge team, and eighteen of their boxers will be there in the two sessions of Day 3.
